Week of August 14th-August 18th , 2017 (first full week of school)
We have had a busy first week in Academic Interventions class! I am so happy to welcome all the new students to 6th grade at Orange Grove. In order to help make a smooth transition, we worked on the following learning goals in class:
*developed shared classroom norms and illustrated what classroom should look/feel/sound like to ensure a safe, productive classroom environment.
*Identified important aspects of my syllabus to learn more about what the class consists of.
* Brainstormed and role played successful student behaviors in a classroom to increase student skills for success(the kids especially enjoyed this!)
*Rated comfort level with OG using a graphing format, to help in identifying and addressing areas of stress in their day.
Along the way we also got into the routine of checking and completing planners, organized binders and backpacks, and reviewed and practiced the math concepts of the week. I am enjoying getting to know all the unique personalities of the students!
This next week our theme is get to know the resources of OGMS, as we visit the library for an introduction by the librarian, learn about and practice going on the teacher websites, and learn about accessing Student Vue for grades and assignment info, to name a few!
